Historical Notes:

Seleukos III, also known as Soter (Saviour) and Keraunos (Thunderbolt), ascended to the throne of the Seleucid Empire in 225 BC. He inherited a realm plagued by internal strife and external threats, and also unsuccessfully attempted to continue his father's war against Attalos I of Pergamon.  Seleukos's abilities did not match his ambitions, nor was he well-liked within the court.  He reigned for only about two years, and while on campaign in Anatolia in 223 BC, he was assassinated by officers of his own army.
