Historical Notes:

The region of Mysia, located in the northwestern region of present-day Turkey, was home to many great cities of antiquity, such as Pergamon and Kyzikos.  Also located in Mysia were numerous other smaller and lesser known cities, such as Gambrion, of which there are sparse historical records.  The first mention of the city was in the Hellenica of Xenophon, which describes the ruler of the city, Gorgion, as a dynast in 399 BCE. The city's coinage, which features a 12-rayed star, seems to have started at the beginning of the 4th century BC.  Its location near Pergamon suggests that it may have had some political or economic ties to the larger city.
