Theodosius II ruled for 48 years, the longest reign of any Roman Emperor. He is best known for instituting the Codex Theodosianus, the Theodosian code of laws in 438, a compilation of all Roman laws from the time of Constantine I. He also founded the University of Constantinople in 425, which would continue to exist until the 15th century. It was during the reign of Theodius II that the Eastern Roman Empire was ravaged by Attila the Hun and his hordes in mid 430s.
