Notes:
Dark black patina; minor roughness. An impressively large and scarce provincial. 8 examples listed in RPC Online (including the 4 cited by Karbach).
Historical Notes:
Irenopolis was located in northeastern Clicia and founded by Antiochus IV of Commagene (AD 38-72), a Roman client-king. It was apparently briefly named Neronias, after Emperor Nero, but some time later, reverted back to its original name of Irenopolis.
